Serdang, February 24th, 2026 — The School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully organised a seminar titled Python for Data Analytics under the Putra Sarjana Seminar Series. The session was delivered by Dr. Nadiah Binti Ruza, Senior Lecturer at the School of Business and Economics, UPM, and was held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The seminar aimed to equip postgraduate students with essential knowledge and practical insights into the use of Python as a powerful tool for data analytics in research. In today’s increasingly data-driven academic environment, postgraduate researchers are expected to manage, analyse, and interpret large and complex datasets. The session addressed this need by introducing participants to fundamental Python concepts and commonly used libraries that support efficient data analysis.

Throughout the seminar, participants explored how Python-based analytical techniques can be applied across various research domains, including business, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. The session effectively bridged theoretical understanding with practical application, enabling participants to appreciate how data-driven methods can support evidence-based decision-making in their academic work.
Among the key highlights were an introduction to Python for data analytics, an overview of core analytical concepts, and demonstrations of practical applications in graduate-level research. Participants also gained insights into how data analytics can enhance research efficiency and be integrated into thesis writing and scholarly publications.
The successful organisation of this seminar reflects the School of Graduate Studies’ ongoing commitment to strengthening research competencies among postgraduate students and supporting the development of high-quality, data-informed scholarship at UPM.
