August 5, 2025 – In an effort to champion sustainable living and innovative farming practices, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Sarawak through School of Graduate Studies, UPM successfully organized an insightful seminar titled "Live-Aligned: Regenerative Agriculture, Regenerative Life." The event, which took place on Tuesday at the Smart Classroom ICT, drew significant interest from the campus community, focusing on the symbiotic relationship between land health and human well-being.
The seminar was led by the esteemed Prof. Dr. Patricia King Jie Hung from the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, UPM Sarawak. As an expert in her field, Prof. Dr. Patricia shared her extensive knowledge on the principles of regenerative agriculture—a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems. Unlike conventional methods, regenerative agriculture focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity, and improving the water cycle, which are critical components in combating climate change. During the four-hour session, which ran from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, participants were introduced to the concept of "Regenerative Life." Prof. Dr. Patricia emphasized that the philosophy of regeneration extends beyond the soil; it involves aligning our daily habits and lifestyles with the natural rhythms of the environment. The seminar provided a platform for deep discussion on how sustainable agricultural practices can lead to a more resilient and balanced life for the community.
The event was held exclusively for the students and staff of UPM Sarawak, ensuring a focused environment for academic and professional growth. By utilizing the high-tech facilities of the Smart Classroom ICT, the seminar integrated interactive elements that allowed attendees to engage closely with the subject matter. This initiative reflects UPM Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to becoming a hub for agricultural excellence and environmental stewardship. It is hoped that the knowledge shared during this session will inspire the campus community to adopt more eco-friendly practices, both in their research and their personal lives, fostering a greener future for Sarawak and beyond.
