Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Inbound Mobility and Non-Graduating (NG) Programme is open to local and international postgraduate students from other universities/research institutes to conduct part of their research (Inbound Research Attachment), attending graduate courses or short visit (Inbound Mobility) to UPM. The programme is not a degree programme. Nonetheless, all students intending to join the programme must register with the School of Graduate Studies (SGS)

     1. NON-GRADUATING (INBOUND RESEARCH ATTACHMENT)

Postgraduate students from other institutions of higher learning, research institutes, or research laboratories who are interested in this programme may apply for a short-term research attachment at any research institute or faculty in UPM.

The following is the application procedure:

Refer to the respective faculty/institute to obtain initial consent for the research attachment.

• Fill out the SOK/INT/BR01/INBOUND form [APPLICATION FOR STUDY IN UPM (INBOUND)] and submit the completed form to the dean/director of the respective faculty/institute;
• Submit the following documents with the application form:

1. Research proposal (if applying for research attachment programme)
2. Letter of acceptance from potential supervisors
3. Highest degree transcript
4. Certified copy of first and master’s degree certificate(s)
5. Student status confirmation letter from home university
6. Certified copy of passport (all pages, and validity for at least one year).
7. Passport-sized photograph
8. Certified copy of letter of sponsorship award/Letter of financial guarantee (if any)

 Once the host faculty/institute has endorsed the application, the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) will issue an official offer letter.

 

     2. INBOUND MOBILITY

Postgraduate students at another academic institution who would like to have some academic experience at UPM by enrolling in the graduate courses may do so under the Inbound Mobility programme.

The following is the application procedure: 

• Fill out the SOK/INT/BR01/INBOUND form [APPLICATION FOR STUDY IN UPM (INBOUND)] and submit the completed form to the Dean, School of Graduate Studies, UPM.
• Submit the following documents with the application form: 

1. Student status confirmation letter
2. Certified copy of passport (all pages, and validity for at least one year).
3. Passport-sized photograph – two copies.

 

FEES

UPM will charge a nominal fee of RM550.00 per semester. This fee is to cover library, medical and service charges. For the Inbound Research Attachment NG programme, the respective faculty/institute may charge additional bench fees. Student attending graduate courses may be charged credit fees. Please refer to the respective faculty/institute for further details.

A student who is enrolled at a member or associate member of the Southeast Asia Consortium of Graduate Schools (as listed below) may cross-enroll with the University at his/her own expense. No tuition fee shall be charged by the University if such a student is already paying fees at his/her home university. However, the student is required to pay a nominal fee of RM550.00 per semester to the University.

• University of the Philippines Los Baños, the Philippines

 

Associate Member Universities:

• Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan
• University of British Columbia, Canada
• University of Gottingen, Germany
• University of Queensland, Australia

No fees will be charged for short visit.
