UPM COLLABORATE WITH SEVEN UNIVERSITIES IN TURKEY
SERDANG, May 26 - A delegation from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) led by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan had visited seven universities during his official visit to Turkey which took place on the 26th - 30th May 2015. The visit is to form an academic, research, and student and staff exchange collaboration with universities in Turkey.
The delegation visited Yildiz Technological University, Sakarya University, Fatih University, Suleyman Sah University, Ataturk University, Suleymen Demierel University, and Middle East Technical University.
UPM has had a close relationship with universities in Turkey, especially through Mevlana Exchange programme, an exchange programme for students and staff which is sponsored by the Turkish government. Since its inception in 2013, a total of 12 UPM students/staff have been to Turkey under the programme. On the other hand, a total of 28 Turkish students/staff have visited UPM in the last 2 years.
The delegates also discussed other potential collaboration including dual degree programmes, strategy to strengthen the partnership in research about halal issues, and opportunity to collaborate in Erasmus Plus and Horizon 2020, a new initiate by the European Commission.
The Vice-Chancellor of UPM which is also the President of ASAIHL has encouraged the 7 universities in Turkey to be involved in academic, student and staff exchanges, and to participate in strategic research and development activities organized by the ASAIHL.
Members of the UPM delegate include the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry & Community Relations) and the Dean of School of Graduate Studies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or a Letter of Intent with the 7 universities.
