The 5th Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC) Faculty Forum took place in Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines on 20-22 September 2023. Organized by Visayas State University (VSU), this forum had "Sustainable Agriculture Under Changing Climate" as its main theme.

Speakers are invited to discuss a keynote address through four parallel sessions; namely Smart Agriculture and Precision Farming for Resilience and Sustainable Development (Session 1), Natural Resources Conservation and Management (Session 2), Food and Nutrition Security (Session 3), and Risk Communication and Prediction (Session 4).

Apart from aiming to provide an opportunity for faculty members from UC members to develop camaraderie, encourage transdisciplinary studies, and promote greater integration of research through strategic partnerships for collaboration, this forum is also a way to further strengthen the relationship among the UC members which would hopefully lead to collaborative research proposals.

Supported by the UC, the 5th Faculty Forum is attended by more than 50 speakers from 12 UC member universities including IPB University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Universitas Brawijaya from Indonesia; Universiti Putra Malaysia from Malaysia; Kasetsart University and Maejo University from Thailand; Tokyo NODAI from Japan; National Taiwan University from Taiwan; UP Los Baños, Visayas State University, Central Luzon State University, and Central Mindanao University from the Philippines. UPM was represented by 4 faculty members namely Gs. Dr. Nik Norasma Che’Ya from the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ferdaus binti Mohamat Yusuff from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Prof. Ir. Dr. Yus Aniza Yusof from the Faculty of Engineering and Halal Products Research Institute, and lastly, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faizal Abdull Razis from the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFOS).

The closing program was conducted along with a cultural presentation in Leyte, Philippines. All participants were also brought on a city tour in Ormoc and Baybay on the 22nd September 2023.
