Financial Incentive for Excellent Graduates (BYSC)

FINANCIAL INCENTIVE FOR EXCELLENT GRADUATES (BYSC)
SECOND SEMESTER 2025/2026

 

School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is pleased to announce that the Bantuan Yuran Siswazah Cemerlang (BYSC) / Financial Incentive for Excellent Graduates is now open for application from 01 – 31 January 2026.

This financial incentive is offered to students with outstanding academic records registered under Master by Coursework, Master of Science (MSc), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program structures. It is available to all clusters, including the Medicine, Science & Technology and Social Sciences.

 

Terms and Conditions

  1. Number of scholarships awarded

    6 awardees per academic year;
    • 2 recipients for Master by Coursework
    • 2 recipients for Master by Research
    • 2 recipients for PhD

  2. Duration

    The scholarship will cover up to 3 - 6 semesters of study, subject to an annual review of student’s academic progress.

  3. Financial terms of the scholarship

    The scholarship covers up to 30 percent of the tuition fees for the duration of:
    • Maximum 3rd semester of study for Master by coursework
    • Maximum 4th semester of study for Master by research; and
    • Maximum 6th semester of study for PhD.


  4. Eligibility
    • Open to local and international candidates, whether new or existing students who have received an offer or are currently studying at Master's or PhD level (course work or research mode) at UPM from any of the following categories:

      • Muslim; and
      • Asnaf; or
      • Disabled (OKU)
    • New students must fulfill the following criteria:

      • Master : Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA of 3.50 and above or equivalent; or
      • PhD : Possess a Master's Degree and have produced at least one publication in Scopus Journal or CIJ.
    • Existing students must not exceed the first semester of study with a CGPA of 3.50 and above and a ‘continue’ status at the time of application.

    • Not enrol under Joint/ Dual/Double/Cotutelle degree programmes or Programme by Industry.

    • Not a recipient of any other types of scholarships or financial assistance from other agencies/institutes/bodies.

  5. How to apply

    • Complete the online application form via the student portal at http://sgsportal.upm.edu.my:8080/sgsportal/.
    • Please ensure your Advisor/Chairman of the Supervisory Committee and/or Head of Research Project and Dean of Faculty/Director of the Institute support your application through the online system before 31 January 2026.

     

Note: If any information given is found to be incorrect, the scholarship will be terminated, and the student is required to refund the full amount of the fee and allowance given.
